Category: Digestant. Pepsin is a digestive enzyme; it is extracted from Pepsinogen under PH 1.5~5.0 and the Pepsinogen is secreted by the stomach cell. Pepsin can decompose the solidified proteins into peptone by effect of stomach acid, but it can not go any further to amino acid. The best effective condition for Pepsin is PH 1.6~1.8

Specification: 1:3800, 1:10000, 1:12000, 1:15000 or as requested.

Definition of pepsin (CP):

Pepsin is a protease extracted from the gastric mucosa of pigs, sheep or cattle. It contains not less than 3800 Units per g.

Gansu Tiansen Pepsin powder is produced in GMP conditions according to CP specifications (test with method of Chinese pharmacopoeia 2005 edition part two), the quality can be complied with Pharmacopoeia standards of USP/NF, BP, EP, JP, etc.

Properties:

A white to slight yellow powder; odour; slight but moldy; hygroscopic; the aqueous solution exhibits acidic reaction.

Identification:

To aqueous solution add the solutions of tannic acid, gallic acid or heavy metals salts, a precipitate is produced.

Less on drying:

When dried at 100 for 4 hours, loses not more than 5.0% of weight (Appendix VIII L) 

Storage: Preserve in tightly closed containers, stored in a dry place.
